The connection with the Marina Militare (Italian Navy) goes back to the 80s when Squale was awarded a contract to become the official watch supplier to the La Spezia Scuba Diving Corp. For this purpose, special Squale watches were designed and crafted according to the specific requests of the Navy itself.

40 years after that notable collaboration, the Marina Militare and Squale have decided to renew this professional partnership, producing a watch in a limited edition of only 300 pieces, once again made in collaboration with the Italian Navy in every detail.

For this distinguished collaboration, it was decided to revive the historic Squale “Master” case. This model was one of the first cases designed by Charles Von Büren in the 60s. Over time, the Squale Master became an established name in the world of diving enthusiasts, as famous freedivers such as Enzo Maiorca and Jacques Mayol chose it as their reliable companion during their underwater adventures. The technical characteristics of this pioneering watch guaranteed water resistance up to a depth of 1000 meters.

With the aim of creating an even higher performance product for the renewed collaboration with the Italian Navy, the Master case has undergone some technical improvements (such as the introduction of the helium valve and the addition of a 4 millimeter-thick sapphire crystal) to withstand depths of up to 1200 meters. The Drass Galeazzi company (world leader in the production of submarines) carried out the case water resistant tests in their laboratories and certified the resistance up to 120 ATM.

All the features of the watch have been designed to create an incredibly high-performance timepiece, able to meet the needs and high standards of the Italian Navy. The matte black dial was made with the "sandwich" technique, which allows a greater amount of SuperLuminova BWG9 to be concentrated in the large indexes. The "bund" bezel is another unique feature of the Squale Master X Marina Militare; without a tachymeter scale - and with only one triangle in SuperLuminova. Exclusively intended for use by military diving corps, it was born out of the need to monitor the hours spent on very long dives, and not the minutes as in traditional underwater-use bezels.

This classic diver has a screw-in case back, and a 316L stainless steel case with dimensions of 42mm x 17mm for a comfortable presence on your wrist. The caseback bears the Italian Navy coat of arms, depicting the four Maritime Republics, as well as the edition number of the limited series.

This case features a signed screw-down crown at the 4 o´clock position which is recessed and well protected against unwanted impact. Due to the recessed crown and the elegant flowing design of the case the watch is exceptionally comfortable to wear even on a smaller wrist. The hand-painted dial with the distinctly designed luminescent markers of Swiss Superluminova BGW9 provides excellent legibility in all lighting conditions.

The smooth, coin-shaped 120 click uni-directional bezel has a brushed steel insert and partners well with the bright orange minute hand providing crucial, at a glance, information on remaining or elapsed dive-time. The flat scratch-resistant sapphire crystal is enhanced with an anti-reflective treatment for better visibility.

The Squale Master Marina Militare is powered by a Swiss made Sellita SW 200-1 Elaboré automatic movement which provides mechanical reliability and accuracy under the toughest circumstances.

This watch comes with a high quality Italian black rubber strap with signed buckle as well as a nylon nato strap. It is packaged in an IP67 certified protective travel case.
