The 1521 Classic COSC Certified is the first model in Squale’s history with a Chronometer Certified movement.

COSC, - Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètre - is an independent Swiss organization that certifies chronometers. Founded in 1973 and based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, it’s a not-for-profit organization recognized as serving the public interest, dedicated to Swiss watchmaking only. The tests performed by the COSC consist of static tests performed in the laboratory. Each individual movement/watch undergoes a battery of tests specific to each of the four types, for several consecutive days, in five positions and at three different temperatures (8°, 23° and 38°C). Then, for 15 days, the movements undergo daily tests, where they are wound and measured.

The term “chronometer” is assigned to a precision timepiece after passing the tests described above, which determine the average error variation to be between -4 and +6 seconds every 24 hours. The COSC definition of Chronometer is thus synonymous with quality and reliability that is certified by a number engraved on the movement and printed on the certificate issued by the COSC.

This classic diver has a screw-in case back, and a 316L stainless steel case with dimensions of 42mm x 13mm for a comfortable presence on your wrist. Despite the high water resistance rating of 500 meters the case has been kept to a slim 13mm thanks to the unique case construction.

This highly recognizable shape features a signed screw-down crown at the 4 o´clock position which is recessed and well protected against unwanted impact. Due to the recessed crown and the elegant flowing design of the case the watch is exceptionally comfortable to wear even on a smaller wrist. The hand-painted dial with the distinctly designed applied luminescent markers of Swiss Superluminova provides excellent legibility in all lighting conditions.

The smooth, coin-shaped 120 click uni-directional bezel partners well with the bright orange minute hand providing crucial, at a glance, information on remaining or elapsed dive-time. It features an aluminium bezel insert with fully luminescent markers. The scratch-resistant flat sapphire crystal which is enhanced with an anti-reflective treatment protects this timepiece up to 500 meters below sea-level or 50 atmosphere of pressure.

The great attention to detail and quality is easy to see in the acid-etched case back and the sapphire-crystal guarding the superluminova on the dial. These details give this iconic timepiece a contemporary look and feel whilst still paying respect to its classic unique design and brand heritage.

The Squale 1521 COSC is powered by a Swiss made Sellita SW 200 COSC Certified automatic movement which provides mechanical reliability and accuracy under the toughest circumstances.

The 1521 COSC comes with a set of accessories that enhances the watch thanks to its diverse elements. Protected in a professional and waterproof case, the set includes an additional Squale Italian leather strap, a Squale certificate of authenticity and a COSC certificate.

The COSC certificate, issued by the COSC organisation, certifies its authenticity and (provides the movement performance parameters, reporting the results obtained during testing. This data is unique for each individual movement.

The set also contains a Squale certificate that lists the the serial number of the watch, the serial number of the movement and the date on which it was assembled. This certifies the uniqueness of each product and provides written proof of its production date in our Swiss laboratories.
